Ultra CSV® Crawl Space Vents work perfectly for both ventilating and encapsulating crawl spaces, in existing homes and new construction.
Proper ventilation or treatment of a crawl space plays a vitally important role in the longevity of a home. Unaddressed moisture and humidity under a home can cause mold, mildew and dry rot that can weaken and, in some cases, severely damage the structure. Many residential building codes require as much as one square foot of crawl space ventilation per 150 square feet of building footprint. Today, some builders and homeowners prefer to completely encapsulate crawl spaces year-round and equip them with a dehumidifier, requiring vents to be permanently sealed and insulated.

How hard are Ultra CSV® vents to install?
Not hard at all! Most installations take less than 10 minutes per vent using simple tools. A saw, hammer, or masonry chisel may be needed to remove the old vent and any interferences that my exist. It is usually not necessary to remove the old mortar that surrounded the old vent since the Ultra CSV outer frame rests on the outer surface of the foundation wall. Once clear, a 7/16″ wrench is the only tool needed to install Ultra CSV.
Are Ultra CSV® Crawl Space Vents guaranteed?
Yes! Ultra CSV is guaranteed—period. If you believe an Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vent did not perform to your expectations, contact Griff Invent, LLC at sales@ultracsv.com, and we will do our best to serve you. Please note that any painted, modified, or cut Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vent, or any Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vent damaged by excessive impact, vandalism, or force majeure, cannot be returned for a refund.
Can I paint the Ultra CSV® Crawl Space Vent before installation?
Yes. A plastic-compatible spray paint/primer is recommended. Prior to painting, mask off the stainless steel screen to maintain maximum airflow through vent afterward. Of course, it is not necessary to paint the back of the Ultra CSV outer frame, which will be hidden from view.
Please note that any painted Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vent cannot be returned for a refund. Contact Griff Invent, LLC at sales@ultracsv.com for replacement parts if necessary, and we will do our best to serve you.
Is a building permit required to install the Ultra CSV® Crawl Space Vent?
Based on most residential building codes and conversations with several inspection departments, it is our opinion that a building permit/builder’s license is NOT required to install Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vents. This activity falls within the definition of an “ordinary repair”. While it should not be necessary, if installing the Ultra CSV Crawl Space Vent requires “cutting away of any wall, partition, or portion thereof, the removal or cutting of any structural beam or bearing support, or the removal or change of any required egress,” a building permit and/or license would likely be required. A copy of an attorney’s legal opinion on this matter (from Traverse City, MI) is available upon request.
Do I have to crawl under the house to install or maintain them?
No crawling required! Both installation and seasonal changeovers are done entirely from outside the home—saving time and keeping you clean and safe.
Are Ultra CSV® vents made in the USA?
Yes! Each vent is engineered and built in the USA using durable materials that resist corrosion, pests, and weather for long-lasting performance.
